History and background of the Municipal Committee
MUNICIPAL COMMITTEE AHMADPUR EAST
The Princely state “Bahawalpur” was established in 1704 by the Nawab Bahawal Khan. Sadiq Garh Palace situated at Dera Nawab Sahib was the seat of Government and Derawar Fort was the Court of Nawab. Sadiq Garh Palace, Derawar Fort and Railway Station was linked through tunnel.
The name of Ahmed Pur was derived from the name of Ahmed Khan who was the first cousin of Nawab Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi and who tribe was resided at the place.
